Below is a summary of the current status of our SJRV campaign.
Following the recent court acceptance of our Second Amended Complaint, the application for appointment of Ute as Relator to California Attorney General’s charitable trust division is being prepared by Tom and will be submitted shortly. Deposition notices are currently going out to various parties, the first of which has been served on Lynn Sison (LINKED HERE). It should be noted that although the date of April 28 is shown on the subpoena, this could change due to scheduling conflicts. Additional depositions will be taken for Dan Smith, Marilyn Mitchell, Jane Martin, Jenee Rawlings and Sean Beloud.
We have engaged the services of Courtney Daniels, a local attorney who specializes in 501(C)3’s (non-profit entities). We have concluded that raising donations for our ongoing efforts, in particular to cover costs of our litigation and expanding PR program, will be much more successful if such donations are tax deductible.
One area that Cesar Torres has encouraged us to pursue is testimonials from members of our community who have had family members and friends which were residents of the Village in the past. I would encourage anyone who knows of someone who would be willing to participate in submitting their testimonial to contact Cesar Torres (530-723-5244 / cesar@mycalidesigns.com ) and/or myself (530-304-1550 / slevers@pacbell.net ) for further details and scheduling. The sooner we can get this underway, the better. We are also planning to put out our story to other venues of public information such as newspaper articles, TV news, mailers and attendance in public meetings.
As indicated in my March report, we need to raise $60,000 to cover the next phase of our litigation and PR campaign. To date we have received $15,000 of this amount as only the first two donations, with a pledge for an additional $10,000 if needed. I cannot overemphasize the importance of raising these funds promptly. Although the amount per donation is important, likewise is the number of people who are willing to demonstrate strong community support by making their donation count.
